Fall Fair Returns Labour Day Monday
A favourite Labour Day tradition returns to Burk’s Falls on Monday, September 7 with the annual Armour, Ryerson & Burk’s Falls Agricultural Society Fall Fair. Fair activities run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Light Horse Show begins at 9:00 a.m., with registration starting at 8:30 a.m.
Planning to enter the Exhibit Hall? Entries can be dropped off between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, with judging taking place that day.

Property Tax Reminder
The 2026 final property tax bills were mailed in August, with a payment due date September 30, 2026.
Payments can be made through your financial institution, by e-transfer to treasurer@burksfalls.ca, by mail, or in person at the Village Office. The Village Office accepts cash, debit and cheque.

2026 Municipal Election
The 2026 Municipal Election is coming up, and the official list of certified candidates for the Village of Burk’s Falls has now been confirmed.
Election Day is Monday, October 26, 2026. Voting will take place by traditional paper ballot only. Voting times and location will be announced once confirmed.

Back to School Means Back to Busy Roads
The first day of school is Tuesday, September 8, which means school buses, students and families will once again be part of our morning and afternoon routines.
During the first few days, please allow a little extra time and patience as bus drivers settle back into their routes and students become familiar with their stops. Slow down in school zones, stay alert and remember that excited children may not always be watching for traffic.
When approaching a school bus, flashing amber lights mean slow down and prepare to stop. When the red lights are flashing or the stop arm is activated, you must stop as required by Ontario law.
Drivers are encouraged to review Ontario's school bus safety rules, including stopping requirements and rules for divided and undivided roads.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day to honour the children who never returned home, Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities.
It is a time to reflect on the history and ongoing impacts of the residential school system and to recognize the importance of truth, understanding and reconciliation.
Residents are encouraged to wear orange on September 30 as a symbol of remembrance and to take time to listen, learn and reflect.

Rock the Ranch
Crooked Creek Ranch & Standardbred Sanctuary invites the community to Rock the Ranch on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
Enjoy an evening at the ranch featuring live music by Brett Baker, a Standardbred showcase with horse demonstrations, artisan vendors, raffle prizes and more. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and this is a 19+ event.
Tickets are $65 for admission, food, drink and the concert, or $40 for concert admission only.
Proceeds from the event will support Ranch Community Youth Programs and the Standardbred Sanctuary.

That’s a Wrap on Another Season!
Another summer of movies has come to an end at The Bluebird Theatre, and we would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who helped make our 2026 season a great one.
Thank you to our theatre staff and volunteers for their hard work throughout the summer, and to our community for continuing to come through our doors, support the theatre and enjoy movies right here in Burk’s Falls.
It has been wonderful welcoming familiar faces and new visitors throughout the summer and sharing another season at our community theatre.

World Alzheimer’s Month
This September, the Village of Burk’s Falls is proud to stand with the Alzheimer Society of Muskoka in recognizing World Alzheimer’s Month and supporting individuals and families in our communities who are impacted by Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
The 2026 World Alzheimer’s Month campaign focuses on the importance of early diagnosis with the message:
The Earlier You Know, The More You Can Do. A Dementia Diagnosis Matters.
An early diagnosis can provide individuals and families with more time to access information and support, understand available options and plan for the future.
Throughout September, watch for the blue lights outside the Village of Burk’s Falls Municipal Office as a visible show of support for the Alzheimer Society of Muskoka and all those whose lives have been touched by dementia.
On World Alzheimer’s Day, Monday, September 21, we also invite our community to join us for Blue Shirt Day. Wear blue as a simple way to show your support and help bring greater awareness to dementia in our communities.
Together, we can help encourage conversations, challenge stigma and show those living with dementia and their families that they are not alone.

Learn to Skate Returns This Fall!
Registration opens September 7th for the Burk's Falls Recreation Learn to Skate program at the Armour, Ryerson & Burk’s Falls Memorial Arena.
This 8 week program is designed to help skaters build confidence on the ice at their own pace. Whether your child is stepping onto the ice for the very first time or is ready to continue developing their skating skills, our program offers three levels of instruction: True Beginners, Basic Skaters and Skill Builders.
True Beginners will learn with the assistance of their own support skater, while children who are already comfortable moving and getting up independently will be placed in Basic Skaters or Skill Builders by our coaches based on their current abilities.
The program runs Saturdays from October 10 to November 28 and registration is $50 per skater.
Registration is open September 7 to October 5. Spaces are limited.

Lace up your skates! Fall and winter skating programs are returning to the Armour, Ryerson & Burk’s Falls Memorial Arena.
With Public Skating, Adult Skating, Parents & Tots and Home School Skate/Shinny, plus Friday Night Public Skating beginning in October, there are plenty of opportunities to get back on the ice.
