Thank You, Jake Rhodes!
The Village of Burk's Falls would like to extend our sincere thanks to Jake Rhodes of Northern Rhodes Artistry in Wood Carving for his incredible generosity in donating the new and improved Pete the Bear carving that now proudly stands in Stan Darling Park.
Pete the Bear is more than just a carving. He is a symbol of Burk's Falls' rich history and a beloved part of our community. When the previous carving reached the end of its life, many residents hoped Pete would one day return. Thanks to Jake's kindness, exceptional talent and dedication to his craft, Pete has a new home where residents and visitors can continue to enjoy him for years to come.
Jake is an internationally award-winning chainsaw artist whose remarkable work can be found throughout Ontario and beyond. We are truly honoured that he chose to donate his time and talent to our community.
A formal ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at a later date to celebrate Pete's return and recognize Jake's generous contribution. Further details will be shared once arrangements have been finalized.
In the meantime, we encourage everyone to stop by Stan Darling Park to see Pete for themselves and follow Northern Rhodes Artistry in Wood Carving to see more of Jake's incredible creations.
Thank you, Jake, for helping preserve a piece of Burk's Falls' history and creating a legacy that our community will enjoy for generations to come.

Supporting Local Businesses
The Village of Burk's Falls Council has taken an important step toward supporting local businesses and encouraging future investment through the adoption of a Community Improvement Plan (CIP).
By adopting this Plan, Council has established a framework to support the revitalization of commercial properties and create opportunities for eligible businesses and property owners to invest in improvements.
This initiative reflects Council's commitment to supporting the local business community and encouraging the continued growth and development of the Village.
Further details regarding available incentives and the application process will be shared in the coming months.

Something New Is Coming to Ontario Street!
The Village of Burk's Falls is excited to announce that a Digital Community Board will soon be installed in front of the Municipal Office!
Through the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant, the Village has received $45,000 in funding to support this initiative. The new board will enhance the Village's ability to communicate important information to residents, particularly during emergencies when timely updates and public safety notices are essential.
In addition to supporting emergency preparedness, the board will provide another way to share municipal information.
Residents may notice construction activity in front of the Municipal Office in the near future as preparations for the installation begin.
Stay tuned as this exciting addition to the Village takes shape!

Let's Keep Burk's Falls Beautiful!
As election signs begin appearing throughout the Village, we would like to remind everyone to take care in keeping our community clean and protecting our natural environment.
Please ensure that election signs are properly secured and maintained. If a sign becomes loose, damaged or is no longer needed, please ensure it is collected and disposed of appropriately.
Our beautiful Village and waterways are something we can all take pride in. Let's work together to keep them clean and free of litter throughout the election season!
Thank you for doing your part to keep Burk's Falls beautiful!

Make Property Taxes Easier
The Village of Burk’s Falls offers a couple of convenient options to help make managing your property taxes a little easier.
Go Paperless
Have your property tax bill delivered directly to your email instead of receiving a paper copy in the mail.
Paperless billing is convenient, reduces paper and gives you an electronic copy of your bill that you can easily save, access or print whenever you need it. It also means no searching for a misplaced bill when you need a copy for your records. Please note that replacement copies of paper property tax bills are subject to a $20 administration fee.
Spread Your Taxes Over 12 Months
Did you know the Village offers an interest free 12-month payment plan for property taxes?
Instead of managing larger tax installments throughout the year, property owners can spread their property taxes over 12 equal monthly payments, making it easier to include property taxes in your regular monthly budget.
With some financial institutions moving away from similar payment options, the Village's plan provides another way to manage your property taxes directly with us.
Interested?
To sign up for paperless billing, learn more about the 12-month payment plan, or get started, contact the Village Office at 705-382-3138 or email info@burksfalls.ca
A few simple changes can make managing your property taxes easier throughout the year.

Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month
October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, a time to remember the babies gone too soon and recognize the families who carry their memory with them.
The Village of Burk's Falls is proud to support Oak's Tree of Love in raising awareness and honouring these precious lives.
On October 15, we invite our community to join the Wave of Light by lighting a candle at 7:00 p.m. in remembrance of babies lost during pregnancy or infancy.
Remembered. Loved. Never forgotten.
